SCBF owes much of its leadership, support, and confidence to its Board of Directors. Encompassing the mission and vision of SCBF, our Board is a diverse group of professionals that are all committed to advancing our work, maximizing our impact, and incorporating many points of view.

Olga Speckhardt

Board Chair
Syngenta Foundation

Olga Speckhardt has many years’ experience in international reinsurance and insurance. She holds a degree in law and has a solid background in underwriting and in the development of regulatory strategies for international insurance supervisory standards. Olga is responsible for developing the Syngenta Foundation insurance / financial inclusion initiatives globally, together with international reinsurance / insurance partners, microfinance institutions, governments, stakeholders and investors. Olga is also a Member of the Board of ACRE Africa.

Mario Wilhelm

Vice Chair
Swiss Re

Mario Wilhelm is Head Middle East & Africa with Swiss Re’s Public Sector Solutions team, a unit dedicated to supporting governments, development banks, international organisations and NGOs with their resilience strategies. Mario addresses risk management needs by co-creating innovative insurance solutions within a PPP framework. Mario joined Swiss Re in 2011 and until recently, he was leading the global microinsurance team. He is a prime mover in microinsurance and is advocating a private sector approach in financial inclusion.

Guido Beltrani

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)

Guido Beltrani is Head of the Thematic Cluster “Inclusive Economic Development” at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). In this position, he is responsible for managing a team of thematic experts in the four areas of Private Sector Development, Financial Sector Development, Vocational Skills Development and Private Sector Engagement in development cooperation initiatives. Since 2005, he held different positions at the Head Office in Switzerland, at the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo, at the Swiss Cooperation Office in Ukraine and at the Swiss Contribution Office in Poland. Before that, he worked for eight years as a private sector consultant in the fields of environmental protection and economic development.

Nasser Bakr Alkahtani

Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND)

Nasser Bakr Alkahtani serves as Executive Director of Arab Gulf Fund for Development (AGFUND) and is the Chairman of its Investment Committee. Alkahtani built development partnerships with Arab financial institutions, UN organisations and the private sector, in order to contribute to the SDGs. Currently, he is heading a team that establishes 15 financial inclusion banks across Africa and holds various board seats with microfinance banks in the Middle East region.
